Little Steven Steven and the Disciples of Soul gaben ihr spektakuläres Debüt mit dem 1982 erschienenen Album ”Men Without Women”, das zwei legendäre Rockradio-Hits mit ”Lyin’ In A Bed Of Fire” und ”Forever” hervorbrachte. Letzterer verbrachte neun Wochen in den Billboard ”Hot 100” und war auch bei dem neu gestarteten Sender MTV stark vertreten. Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul feierten ”Men Without Women” mit ausverkauften Live-Terminen, einschließlich eines legendären Auftritts in der berühmten Peppermint Lounge in New York, bei dem die Songs ”Save Me” und ”This Time It’s For Real” elektrisierend wiedergegeben wurden.
