Ein Film- und Fernsehmusikkomponist, Arrangeur, Dirigent und Pianist, geboren am 21. Juni 1932 in Buenos Aires, Argentinien. Im Laufe seiner Karriere wurde er mit vier Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet, basierend auf insgesamt 21 Nominierungen, erhielt zudem einen Cable ACE Award und war sechs Mal für den Oscar nominiert.
Im Jahr 1956 traf Schifrin auf Dizzy Gillespie und schloss sich im Jahr 1960 dessen Quintett an. Für Gillespie komponierte er die groß angelegten Werke »Gillespiana« und »The New Continent«.
