Isao Tomita, geboren im April 1932 und einfach als Tomita bekannt, war ein japanischer Komponist, der weithin als einer der großen Pioniere der elektronischen Musik gilt. Er machte ausgiebig Gebrauch von Synthesizern, um neue Klänge zu schaffen, die seine elektronischen Umsetzungen akustischer Instrumente zu begleiten und zu verbessern. Seine futuristischen Science-Fiction-Themen waren einflussreich für Synth-Pop und tranceartige Rhythmen, die später folgten. Viele seiner Alben sind Bearbeitungen bekannter klassischer Musikstücke. Für sein 1974 erschienenes Album Snowflakes Are Dancing, das auf der Musik von Debussy basiert, erhielt Tomita vier Nominierungen für den Grammy Award. Er ist 2016 verstorben.
Hier sind zwei aufeinanderfolgende Alben zu hören, Kosmos und The Bermuda Triangle von 1978. The Bermuda Triangle wurde in Europa als LP veröffentlicht, die längere CD-Version erschien nur in Japan.
