Als eine enge Freundin sich vorab Hachikus Debütalbum I'll Probably Be Asleep anhörte, hatte sie eine Frage an Bandleaderin Anika Ostendorf: »Warum sind Sie so wütend?« Es ist nicht die erste Reaktion, die die meisten Leute auf die in Melbourne ansässige Band haben würden, deren Traum-Pop-Jams - taufrische Gitarren, klapprige Drum-Machines und ein vielschichtiges Ambiente, gekrönt von Ostendorfs oft atmender Stimme - keine scharfen Kanten zu enthalten scheinen, aber nach Hachikus selbstbetitelter Debüt-EP 2017 fand sich Ostendorf mit dunkleren Themen konfrontiert, die das Erwachsenwerden, die Veränderung und das Gefühl wachsender Frustration der 25-Jährigen widerspiegelten.
