Dave Van Ronk war eine der wichtigsten Figuren, die aus dem amerikanischen Folk-Revival der 1960er Jahre in der New Yorker Musikszene von Greenwich Village. Er befreundete sich mit Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Joni Mitchell und zahllose andere, und sein legendäres Leben war die Grundlage für die Hauptfigur in dem Film der Coen-Brüder »Inside Llewyn Davis«. Diese Sendung wurde an der Indiana University in Bloomington am 20. Oktober 1964 aufgezeichnet.
