In der zweiten Hälfte der 80er Jahre entstand in Großbritannien eine neue Generation gitarrenorientierter Bands, bewaffnet mit einer offenkundigen Sensibilität für Popsongs und verliebt in einen widersprüchlichen Post-Punk-Geist und der Verehrung der 60er Jahre.
