1972 verlegte Rick Hall den Vertrieb seines Labels Fame von Capitol zu United Artists. Dies sollte seinem Label sowohl international als auch in den USA mehr Gewicht verleihen. Die erste Single dieser neuen Vereinbarung war »In The Ghetto« von Candi Staton, die im Mai 1972 veröffentlicht wurde. Mit allen drei Singles und B-Seiten wie »You Don't Love Me No More« und »The Thank I Get For Loving You« ist »Candi Staton« eine Album-Schönheit mit zehn Titeln und auch ein Eckpfeiler des Southern Soul. Nach »I'm Just A Prisoner« und »Stand By Your Man« ist die Album-Trilogie via Ace abgeschlossen.
