Die Single folgt auf den epischen achtminütigen Vorab-Titel »End Of The Affair«, der ebenfalls Teil des Albums sein wird.

»I Forget Where We Were« ist das zweite Album nach Bens höchst erfolgreichem Debüt »Every Kingdom«, das im Oktober 2011 erschienen ist und weltweit über 1 Million Mal verkauft wurde. Es wurde für den Mercury Music Prize nominiert und bescherte Ben zwei BRIT Awards 2012 in den Kategorien »British Breakthrough« und »British Solo Male Artist«.
