In 1980 kam sein großer Durchbruch mit dem Album “You and me” als Rockie Robbins mit Produzent / Arrangeur Schupo Martin zusammenarbeitete. Schupo Martin hatte schon bei Philadelphia International Records sehr erfolgreiche Produkte abgeliefert. Von diesem Nachfolger Album “I Believe in Love” waren die Singles “After loving you”, “Time to Think” und “I Believe in love” ziemlich erfolgreich. Rockie Robbins wird von vielen Soul Fans als Gründer der Funky Soul Balladen gesehen. Und auch dieses Album enthält schöne Balladen, die in den späteren Jahren von Künstlern wie Cheryl Lynn, Luther Vandross und Al Jarreau auch aufgenommen wurden.
Balladeer ROCKIE ROBBINS began singing at an early age. His uncle owned a record shop where he discovered his love for music. By the time he was eleven, he had collected over 10, 000 singles and had decided to be a performer. In 1980, his breakthrough came with the album ‘YOU AND ME´ when he was teaming with producer / arranger BOBBY MARTIN whose previous credits included arranging a slew of hits for Gamble & Huff's Philadelphia International Records. On the Soul Funk scene, ROCKIE ROBBINS is considered as one of the founders of Funky Soul ballads. As expected, singles from his follow-up album "I BELIEVE IN LOVE" turned out to be smash chart hits as well. Such is the case for "AFTER LOVING YOU", "TIME TO THINK" and "I BELIEVE IN LOVE". For the first time on CD!
