Die drei Schönheiten der Puppini Sisters aus England haben mit ihren beiden Vorgängeralben witzig und musikalisch perfekt Swing a'la Andrews Sisters mit aktuellen Pop-Einflüssen gemixt. Jetzt machen uns Marcella, Stephanie und Kate mit ihrem dritten Album ein prickelndes Weihnachtsgeschenk!
Für "Christmas With The Puppini Sisters" haben sie alte und neue Klassiker mit viel neuem Leben erfüllt. Schon beim ersten Song kann der Hörer nicht anders als lächelnd mit dem Fuß zu tappen: "Step Into Christmas" von Elton John präsentiert sich als fetziger Jive. Dann geht es munter weiter mit hippen Oldies wie Eartha Kitts "Santa Baby" oder Bing Crosbys Hawaii-Swinger "Mele Kalikimaka". Aber auch aktuellere Klassiker werden rigoros aufgefrischt: Mariah Careys "All I Want For Christmas" wird nach New Orleans verpflanzt, George Michaels unvermeidlicher Schmachtfetzen "Last Christmas" wird gecroont als wäre er 1950 entstanden.
Wenn Weihnachten dieses Jahr nur halb so gut wird wie "Christmas With The Puppini Sisters", dürfen wir uns auf ein grandioses Fest freuen!
"This month sees the launch of our exciting new album ‘Christmas With The Puppini Sisters.’ We know not all of you might be ready for Christmas yet but we couldn’t resist getting in the festive spirit early this year- so much so that we actually recorded this record in the height of summer! In order for us to have it ready for you we got into the studio in London and started singing our festive hearts out in June this year. It wasn’t the easiest thing to try and conjure up an aura of Christmas when the British weather dealt us extreme heat and glorious sunshine. However, with the help of some props- a bit of tinsel here and a few hundred fairy lights there (not to mention a picture of a roast turkey on our schedule board) we managed it!
This album is a selection of some of our favorite Christmas songs and we truly had the best time recording them. From a hyper-speed rockabilly version of ‘Step into Christmas’ through to an Old Orleans take on ‘All I Want For Christmas’, this album has it all! We worked with some great musicians and had the pleasure or writing for and recording with a live horn and string section too." (thepuppinisisters. com)
