Haust album number two has been sucked up from the slimy unconsciousness and is ready to face daylight! Two years have gone by since the thunderous debut album "Ride The Relapse", the first album ever released by Fysisk Format back in the days. Since then Haust have kept a low profile: with the exception of a 12" split with Next Life and a small selection of exclusive appearances the Haust myth has been growing by itself. "Powers of Horror" was recorded throughout a weekend in Caliban Studios using the same line-up as on "Ride The Relapse". Also this time with band guitarist and song writer Ruben Willem handling the production. What was a fresh and tightly rehearsed line-up on the first record is now a bunch of musicians taking even bigger risks. The songs are longer, slower and more atmospheric than on their last effort. More nuances have been mixed in, while Haust's distinctive ability to groove is maintained. The simplicity in the intricate which caught the attention of hordes of Haust fans is still at force. The title of the record is taken from an essay by Julia Kristeva about Abjection. Abjection is the unmistakable sensation of something repulsive, a cause to disgorge: corpse stench, blood and guts. This, nevertheless, being a human attraction is on a regular basis confirmed in stories we surround ourselves with - that being drunken tales, news broadcasts or in movies: The more repulsive the more taken we are. This is the step away from "Ride The Relapse". When all confident negativity reciprocate and it swallows you whole. If the first record was the party this one is the day after, says vocalist and lyricist Vebjórn Guttormsgaard Móllberg. You don't need many seconds of "Powers Of Horror" before ears, nose and gullet reveal present-day Haust as rotten, wet and macabre as the former.
