Auf faszinierende Weise versteht es Dorado, die argentinische Musiktradition mit zeitgenössischer südamerikanischer Moderne und Anleihen aus dem Jazz zu einem eigenständigen Stil voller Wohlklang zu verschmelzen, dem eine geradezu strahlende Lebendigkeit innewohnt. Carlos Dorado's reputation precedes him. The master guitarist from Argentina studied at the conservatory of Mar del plata and at the faculty for composition in Buenos Aires: He is known for a fantastic tone and a mature culture of interpretation, plus, he expands the spectrum of the classical guitar with various moods and even novel musical coloring. More important, perhaps, is the fact that Dorado creates beautiful, moving instrumental pieces of great harmonic complexity with his compositions "for guitar in chamber music". And even that shows only a part of Carlos Dorado's many facets.

And so, on his debut album with Acoustic Music, "Caio Villa Sonja", lots of the material sounds new and exciting, but also pleasantly familiar. The nylon-string artist, who lives and works in Switzerland, plays ten of his own compositions that demonstrate the extent of his skill on the instrument: at times in elegant solo performances, at times as a duet with the Argentine guitar virtuoso Quique Senesi, or with the "Profesor Superior de Guitarra", Victor Villadangos. lt is fascinating to hear how Dorado amalgamates the Argentine music tradition with contemporary Latin American music and borrowings from iazz, to form his own harmonious style, which is informed by a veritably radiant liveliness. Dorado describes his artistic vision as "new guitar music". We can take him at his word - and embark on a voyage of discovery with "Caio Villa Sonja" that will introduce us to one of the leading contemporary guitarists of Latin America.
