The funkier side of the band is represented here with cool readings of Cliff Nobles' 'The Horse' and the Isley classic 'It's Your Thing'.
From 1969 comes a welcome reissue of this rare Booker T & The MGs soundtrack to the blaxploitation movie 'Uptight'. The movie may well have sunk without trace and but for Ace Records so might the record. There are three vocals on the album, two by Mr. Booker T. Jones himself and a guest appearance by Judy Clay. Also included is the extended version of the hit single "Time Is Tight" and a half dozen instrumentals from the inimitable Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn. Al Jackson and Booker T - the original Booker T & The MGs.
