Tom Dunson ist ein Viehzüchter, der sich mit dem 13-jährigen Matt Garth anfreundet, als dieser durch ein Indianermassaker zum Waisen wird. Bald darauf erhebt Dunson mit Matt und seinem langjährigen Partner Horace Groot Anspruch auf ein Stück Land für seine Rinderfarm.
