Der rumänische Spieler, Abenteurer und Meisterdieb Manolescu zwischen zwei Frauen: seiner feurigen Geliebten Cleo, die ihn zum Verbrechen antreibt, und der braven Krankenschwester Jeanette, die ihn nach einer schweren Verletzung gesund pflegt. Manolescu verliebt sich in Jeanette und wird dafür von der eifersüchtigen Cleo verfolgt und angezeigt. Zwar kommt er ins Gefängnis, aber Jeanette wird auf ihn warten.
