Cumberland, 1348. In England breitet sich die Pest immer weiter aus. Der kleine Griffin hat einen wiederkehrenden Traum: Ein See, auf dem ein Sarg schwimmt. Eine weiße Kirche mit einem eisernen Kreuz. Ein fallender Handschuh. Eine herabstürzende Gestalt. Eine Fackel, die durch einen dunklen Schacht in die Unendlichkeit fällt.
