Das US-Militär hat den Wert des durch Alien-DNA zu einem riesigen Gorilla mutierten Schimpansen erkannt und in einem Geheimprojekt einen mechanischen Riesenaffen erschaffen. Bei der Generalprobe läuft dieser jedoch Amok. Der mit Atomwaffen bestückte Mecha-Ape droht nun, Chicago zu verwüsten.
