Nick Hume ist erfolgreicher Geschäftsmann und liebender Familienvater. Eines Nachts wird sein Sohn bei einem Raubüberfall getötet. Der Mörder ist Anführer einer Straßengang und wird wenig später von der Polizei geschnappt. Obwohl dem Mörder der Prozess gemacht wird kann John das Urteil nicht als gerecht empfinden. Zu groß ist der Schmerz des Verlustes. John beschliesst das Gesetz selbst in die Hand zu nehmen.
