Return To Forever standen in den Siebzigern zusammen mit Weather Report und dem Mahavishnu Orchestra an der Spitze der Jazz/Rock-Fusion-Welle. Return To Forever erreichten ihren kommerziellen und künstlerischen Höhepunkt mit einer Reihe von Alben Mitte der 70er Jahre in der Besetzung Chick Corea an den Keyboards, Stanley Clarke am Bass, Al Di Meola an der Gitarre und Lenny White am Schlagzeug.

Im Jahr 2008 kam diese klassische Besetzung für ihre erste Tournee seit 25 Jahren wieder zusammen und bewies, dass ihre Musikalität und die Chemie innerhalb der Band so stark sind wie eh und je. Die Highlights dieser Tournee sind auf "Returns" festgehalten.
