Mit einer wirklich traumhaften All-Star-Band präsentierte sich der Trompeter Louis Armstrong 1951 bei einem für Platte aufgezeichneten Konzert im Pasadena Civic Auditorium: mit Posaunist Jack Teagarden, Klarinettist Barney Bigard und Pianist Earl Hines standen Armstrong gleich drei großartige Solisten des traditionellen Jazz zur Seite, die auch selbst erfolgreiche Bandleader waren. Und mit Bassist Arvell Shaw sowie dem explosiven Schlagzeuger Cozy Cole (den noch Jahrzehnte später unzählige Rockdrummer als große Inspiration bezeichneten) war auch die Rhythmusgruppe hervorragend besetzt. Bei zwei Stücken trat als Gast außerdem die Sängerin Velma Middleton auf.
