Als Norman Granz die 2 Jazz-Stars zum ersten Mal 1956 im Studio zusammenbrachte, konnte das Resultat eigentlich nur positiv ausfallen. Das entstandene Album »Ella & Louis« war über Jahre ein sehr gefragtes Album. Auf dieser 4-LP Zusammenstellung sind zudem noch die Alben »Ella & Louis Again«, »Porgy & Bess« sowie einige Bonustracks enthalten.
