Jazz For The Carriage Trade (Hybrid-SACD) (Mono)
The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Die damals aufstrebenden Jazzkünstler Donald Byrd (Trompete) und Phil Woods (Alt-Saxophon) waren 1956 / 57 Stammmitglieder des George Wallington Quintet. Der Bop-Pianist spielt auf »Jazz For The Carriage Trade« außerdem mit Art Taylor (Schlagzeug) und Teddy Kotick (Bass).
Die Aufnahme stammt aus der Zeit, als Wallington das Musikprogramm im New Yorker Club Bohemia verantwortete. Neben den drei Standards »Our Delight«, »Our Love Is Here to Stay« und »What’s New« spielen die fünf auch zwei Woods-Stücke (»Together We Wail« und »But George«) und Frank Fosters »Foster Dulles«.
Die Hybrid-Mono-SACD erscheint im Mini-LP-Cover in einer Serie von 50 Wiederveröffentlichungen des legendären Prestige-Labels. Geplant sind je 25 Mono- und Stereo- Aufnahmen. Das Mastering übernahm Kevin Gray in seinen Cohearent Audio Studios.
