In den Sechzigern fand Etta James ihre musikalische Richtung und hinterließ einen bleibenden Eindruck als gefühlvolle Pop- und Bluesdiva. Ihr Debütalbum "At Last!" wurde Ende 1960 veröffentlicht und zeichnete sich durch seine abwechslungsreiche Musikauswahl aus, die von Jazzstandards über Bluesnummern bis hin zu Doo-Wop und Rhythm & Blues reichte.
Das Album erhielt eine Fünf-Sterne-Bewertung in All Music, und Stephen Cook schrieb: „Nachdem sie nach ihren ersten R&B-Hits ein paar Jahre in der Schwebe verbracht hatte, kehrte Etta James 1961 mit ihrer ersten Chess-Veröffentlichung ins Rampenlicht zurück. James schaffte es sowohl in die R&B- als auch in die Pop-Charts mit dem Titelstück des Albums, 'All I Could Do Was Cry', und 'Trust in Me'.“ Hier sind James' größte Hits versammelt.
