Im Frühjahr 1983 nutzte das Quintett die italienischen Termine der Europatournee und vereinbarte mit Alberto Alberti von Red Records, einige Stücke im Studio Cavalieri in Bari aufzunehmen. So entstand Dionysius, ein Album, das ein vitales und kreatives Ensemble in allen seinen Bestandteilen zeigt. Dionysius war das letzte Album, das 'Danny' Richmond (wie es fälschlicherweise auf dem Cover heißt) unter seinem eigenen Namen im Studio aufnahm, als er am 15. März 1988 in New York einen Schlaganfall erlitt und seine Tage auf Erden beendete.
