Schaik, Willie Jones III
Online anhören
Joe, the son of legendary saxophonist Al Cohn, is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists of our era - melodically quick-witted, harmonically advanced, relentlessly swinging. His recent work with Harry Allen, Jay Leonhart, Buddy DeFranco and countless others has that timeless invigorating quality that marks jazz at its very best.
Shared Contemplations, a marvellous collection of standards, classic bebop, cool jazz rarities and originals, only strengthens the case for Joe Cohn as a guaranteed pleasure, a leader in the field.
Featuring Peter Beets on piano throughout, the disc also highlights the strengths of two different rhythm sections: J. J. Wiggins and Joost van Schaik alternate with Peter Washington and Willie Jones III on bass and drums, respectively.
Recorded October 6, 2007 in Monster, The Netherlands by Max Bolleman
