The Crown of Life setzt die Erkundung vergessener Schätze der englischen Chormusik des 20. Jahrhunderts durch den Chor des Queen’s College in Oxford unter Owen Rees fort. Im Mittelpunkt steht die erste Aufnahme von Kenneth Leightons Missa Christi (1988), dem letzten großen geistlichen Werk des Komponisten, das von der Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis in Auftrag gegeben wurde. Werke von Rebecca Clarke und Gustav Holst runden das Programm ab und bieten ein abwechslungsreiches Porträt von Komponisten, die durch ihr Studium bei Stanford verbunden sind und sich in ihrer sakralen Ausdrucksweise einig sind.
