Gabriel Jacksons The Christmas Story behandelt den Zeitraum von Advent bis Mariä Lichtmess und verbindet biblische Erzählungen mit liturgischen Texten und eigens in Auftrag gegebenen Gedichten. Bemerkenswert ist auch das kleine Ensemble aus Flöte, Schlagzeug, Streichern, Saxophon und drei Posaunen - letztere erinnern sehr an Heinrich Schütz, den Jackson bei der Komposition im Hinterkopf hatte.
