Blu-ray Audio

The Blu-ray Audio Disc (also Pure Audio Blu-ray) is technically a normal Blu-ray Disc and can be played on any Blu-ray player. However, it does not contain any video content. The high storage capacity is used for high-resolution audio data (stereo and surround, up to 24 bit/192 kHz). It is operated either without a screen like a conventional CD or via the onscreen menu like a normal Blu-ray disc.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Für das musikalische Erlebnis sorgen die talentierten Musiker der ‘Norwegian Navy Band’, die die Werke von Hindemith, Stravinsky, Schönberg und Wallin sehr vital, um nicht zu sagen schmissig spielen. Besonders die beiden Hindemith-Werke bekommen so einen brillanten und orgelhaften, letztlich ganz undeutschen Klang.
Seine ‘Symphonies of Wind Instruments’ hat Igor Stravinsky als « an austere ritual that is unfolded in terms of short litanies between different groups of homogenous instruments » bezeichnet. Tatsächlich schrieb er die Komposition als Trauermusik für Claude Debussy und verwendete dabei traditionelle russische Melodien, auch solche von Begräbniszeremonien. Dieser russische Bezug wird in der vorliegenden, alles andere als asketisch-strengen Aufführung sehr deutlich, denn Dirigent Ingar Bergby bringt ungemein viel Farbe in die Musik. Das Programm endet mit einem musikalisch-akustischen Feuerwerk, Rolf Wallins ‘Changes’ für Blasorchester und Schlagzeug.
