Sigurd Larsen (b. Odense, Denmark, 1981; lives and works in Berlin) is an architect and designer. His buildings-he has planned homes, hotels, and public schools in Denmark, Germany, Austria, France, Greece, and the US-have won his studio numerous accolades. In any given physical and cultural context, local knowledge about how to build in a specific climate is a key source of inspiration for his designs, which stand out for the distinctive way in which they integrate the shifting of the daylight around and inside the structures and their experimental use of illumination. The studio's creations have been featured in numerous international magazines and books as well as at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

The publication Places of Longing showcases twelve projects by Studio Sigurd Larsen Design & Architecture, including the Michelberger Farm, a hotel and agricultural enterprise south of Berlin, and The Lake House, an athletic and seminar facility in Berlin. Larsen's way of building and thinking is framed and complemented by essays by Sif Lindblad and the cognitive scientist Marjan Sharifi, a testimonial by the artist Michael Sailstorfer, and a conversation between the architect and Sif Lindblad.

Sigurd Larsen (geb. 1981 in Odense, Dänemark; lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) ist Architekt und Designer. Für seine Bauten, die Häuser, Hotels und öffentliche Schulen in Dänemark, Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich, Griechenland und den USA umfassen, erhielt sein Studio zahlreiche Auszeichnungen. In jedem gegebenen physischen und kulturellen Kontext ist das lokale Wissen darüber, wie man in einem spezifischen Klima baut, eine wesentliche Inspirationsquelle für seine Entwürfe, die in besonderer Weise das Wandern des Tageslichts um und in den Bauwerken und einen experimentellen Umgang mit Lichteinflüssen einbeziehen. Neben zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen in internationalen Zeitschriften und Büchern wurden die Arbeiten des Büros auf der Architekturbiennale in Venedig präsentiert.

Die Publikation Places of Longing zeigt zwölf Projekte des Studios Sigurd Larsen Design & Architecture, darunter die Michelberger Farm, ein Hotel mit Agrarbetrieb südlich von Berlin, und The Lake House, ein Sport- und Seminargebäude in Berlin. Darüber hinaus wird die Bau- und Denkweise von Larsen von Essays von Sif Lindblad und der Kognitionswissenschaftlerin Marjan Sharifi, einem Erfahrungs- bericht des Künstlers Michael Sailstorfer sowie von einem Gespräch zwischen dem Architekten und Sif Lindblad eingefasst.
