Far off in the ocean exists a mysterious island inhabited by two rival clans. To keep the peace, the Tangata clan provides a yearly offering of one of their warriors to the more powerful Miyaru, who are said to be descended from sharks! Avel, the Tangata chief's son, is growing increasingly dissatisfied with this arrangement...and with the Miyaru. When he is attacked by a jungle cat, a member of the Miyaru clan, Tukiri, comes to his rescue. Surprised by his rival's friendly, gentle nature, Avel lets his guard down, but when Tukiri notices Avel is bleeding, his demeanor suddenly changes---and so does his appearance!
