Klappentext
AI is set to profoundly transform our global society. Engineers, professionals, and policymakers are increasingly concerned with the ethical integration of AI into societal structures. Numerous guidelines and frameworks have been established to promote ethical and responsible development and use of AI. However, the existing guidelines and frameworks often fall short in addressing the diverse applications of AI in concrete professional practices, and they lack a robust ethical and philosophical foundation.
This book results from a collaborative effort between engineers, professionals, and policymakers in the AI field, alongside ethicists and philosophers. Chapters are written in joint authorship by scholars and scientists from at least two disciplines. The book provides an ethical framework that is firmly rooted in AI practices and supported by well-established ethical and philosophical principles. The framework offers five lenses that provide professionals with a solid basis for identifying relevant values for their own practice and translating these into design specifications.
Revisiting AI Ethics is intended for students, scholars, engineers, professionals, and policymakers involved in AI. Part I examines the intersection of AI and ethics, Part II discusses AI's applications within society, and Part III delves into foundational questions to enhance the reader's understanding of the implicit philosophical assumptions of this book.
