Klappentext
The large-scale destruction of Ukraine's housing stock caused by Russia's war of aggression has created one of the most urgent reconstruction challenges in Europe since 1945. This book presents a systematic approach to wartime housing rehabilitation developed in the city of Kryvyi Rih and tested through two pilot projects involving damaged residential buildings of the widespread Series 94 type.
The study formulates what the authors call the Kryvyi Rih Method. The approach links emergency stabilisation, structural reinforcement, and preparation for energy modernisation into a coordinated sequence of interventions. Repair is therefore understood not as a temporary measure but as the first step in the long-term transformation of Ukraine's residential infrastructure.
The book thus presents more than a local case study. It places a transferable method for discussion-one that could be applied in cities across Ukraine facing similar challenges. By analysing construction techniques, ownership structures, funding mechanisms, and municipal coordination, the study outlines how rehabilitation may become a reference for scalable national recovery strategy.
