The Pacific sand sole, Psettichthys melanostictus, is the only fish in the genus Psettichthys of the Pleuronectidae family. It is a flat fish and inhabits Eastern Pacific waters where it lives on sandy bottoms. It feeds on other fish, worms, crustaceans and molluscs. The flatfish are an order (Pleuronectiformes) of ray-finned fish, also called the Heterosomata, sometimes classified as a suborder of Perciformes.
