The paintings of Danish artist Ruth Campau (b. 1955, lives in Copenhagen) are walkable, situational, and atmospheric; her artistic process is ritualistic and demanding. She creates architectures of color using precisely placed-and often very long-vertical brush or broom strokes on transparent synthetic supports. Layering, light, and reflection impart rhythm and spatial depth. Among Campau's most impressive art-in-architecture projects is her monumental color intervention at the Copenhagen airport. This book documents the exhibition Colour on Brush in Space at the Museum of Non-Objective Art in Otterndorf. Inspired by the Northern German landscape and its tidal sea, the artist created a unique spatial installation in shades of brown and green that allows color to be experienced physically.
