Nigel Marsh: Green Guide: Reef Life of Australia, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

The fascinating subject of Australia's reefs is the focus for this new title in New Holland's award-winning Green Guides series, from the famous coral reefs of tropical seas to subtropical, temperate and even artificial reefs that hold a wealth of marine life. The structure of this book is similar to that of other titles in the series. Fact panels cover interesting aspects of the subject, including 'What is a Reef?', 'What Other Habitats and Features Support Reefs?' and 'Are Reefs Threatened?'.

Meanwhile identification spreads cover all the key life-forms which occur on reefs around Australia. From plants and plant-like organisms, through invertebrates to the vertebrates, each category is crammed with jaw-dropping facts and images.

From nudibranchs, sea stars, corals and octopus that would seem outlandish if they were dreamed up for a sci-fi movie, through the hundreds of species of outrageously colourful fishes and those ocean giants, the great whales, there are reasons for surprise and awe on every page.

The many beautiful images are taken from the author's own collection, which has been built up over many decades.
