Jörg Rüpke, geb. 1962, lehrte von 1995 bis 1999 als Professor für Klassische Philologie an der Universität Potsdam. Seit 1999 ist er als Professor für Vergleichende Religionswissenschaft an der Universität Erfurt tätig. Er hat zahlreiche Publikationen zur Religion der Römer vorgelegt.
