Basil Porter, a newly demobbed Intelligence Officer, is taken on as Head brewer of Holt Bros. Ltd. in the small seaside town of Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset.
His Challenge is to oversee the restoration of the Brewery.
However, a powerful adversary has a very different agenda, and is determined that he will not succeed. A Conflict interest develops between a traditional way of life, at the heart of the community, and the remorseless march of corporate greed.
Besides our main protagonists, a whole host of endearing, comic and eccentric characters flavour to the mix.
