Klappentext
The Hermeneutics of Retrieval is a powerful theological movement aimed at restoring the primacy of papal supremacy through a return to traditional interpretations of Scripture. It seeks to reclaim and re-establish doctrines that align with the authority of the Roman Church, positioning these teachings as the guiding force for global religious and moral order.is not merely an academic method; it is a calculated theological strategy-one that seeks to reassert the centrality of Rome's ecclesiastical authority under the guise of restoring "orthodoxy." Far from a neutral search for truth, this movement is a deliberate attempt to recover pre-Reformation doctrines, not for biblical fidelity, but to restore the moral and theological supremacy of the papacy in a fragmented, postmodern world. While it cloaks itself in noble language-"renewal," "unity," and "tradition"-its core mission is to pull the church and society back under the shadow of the Roman altar.
This form of retrieval theology subtly undermines sola scriptura by elevating Church tradition, papal encyclicals, and conciliar authority as interpretive keys. The result is a slow but sure erosion of biblical interpretation rooted in the plain reading of Scripture. Truth is redefined, not by the Spirit-led understanding of the Word, but by historical consensus molded by centuries of Roman influence. Thus, Scripture is no longer the final authority but is made subservient to institutional memory and ecclesiastical tradition.
The effects are already visible. Theological institutions are reshaping their curricula to prioritize patristic interpretations and liturgical traditions at the expense of biblical clarity. This shift is reconditioning a new generation of clergy to venerate Church authority over divine revelation. In the name of unity, Protestant distinctiveness is vanishing.
As Ellen White warned, "When Protestant churches shall unite with the secular power to sustain a false religion... then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near." (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 451)
In the end, Hermeneutics of Retrieval is not a return to the Bible, but a return to Babylon, leading society into a religious bondage that will ultimately cost it its liberty.
