John Atkinson wurde 1947 in Coventry, England, geboren. Dort studierte er auch Kunst und Design. Bis 2003 hatte er eine sehr erfolgreiche Werbeagentur mit eigenem Grafik studio in London, seither widmet er sich ganz der Malerei.
