This volume focuses in particular on the status quo and future of legislation. The highly developed field of legislative studies in Switzerland serves as an important example. With regard to Germany, the contributions discuss the specific challenges of legislation, ranging from the implementation of EU directives into national law to the particularities of state legislation and municipal rule-making. The constitutional requirements for participatory and timely federal legislation are also examined, as is the prospect of algorithmic governmental decision-making as a future vision.

The articles section includes a Franco-German comparative analysis of parliamentary decision-making in situations without clear majorities, a discussion of the significance of Article 2 TEU, a proposal to refine the definition of federalism, and an examination of the constitutional foundations of combating antisemitism. The debate section addresses "Narratives in Law." The contributions explore the theoretical value of narrative-based legal analysis and discuss different narratives concerning Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as Poland, Russia, and Japan.

In the section "Portraits and Remembrances," the work of Peter Häberle is examined from various perspectives. It also includes an interview with former Federal Constitutional Court justice Gertrude Lübbe-Wolff and personal reflections on "reason of state" ("Staatsräson") and injustice in dealing with the legacy of National Socialist crimes. The reconstruction of the investigation into the political murder of Georg August Zinn illustrates how the justice system operated in post-war Germany.

The yearbook further contains contributions on constitutional developments in Turkey, Southkorea, and China, as well as on "Asian constitutionalism." In the field of state constitutional law, developments in Austria and the need to strengthen the resilience of state constitutional courts in Germany are addressed.
