J.K. Rowling ist die Autorin der sieben Harry-Potter-Romane, die zwischen 1997 und 2007 erschienen sind. Die Abenteuer von Harry, Ron und Hermine auf der Hogwarts-Schule für Hexerei und Zauberei wurden seitdem über 500 Millionen Mal verkauft, in über 80 Sprachen übersetzt und haben auch im Kino Fans auf der ganzen Welt begeistert. Für wohltätige Zwecke hat J.K. Rowling drei Begleitbände zur Serie verfasst. Einer davon, Phantastische Tierwesen und wo sie zu finden sind, diente als Inspiration für eine neue Filmreihe, deren Drehbücher ebenfalls aus Rowlings Feder stammen. J.K. Rowling führte Harrys Geschichte in dem Theaterstück Harry Potter und das verwunschene Kind fort, das sie gemeinsam mit Drehbuchautor Jack Thorne und Regisseur John Tiffany schrieb.
