Biography (Herbert W. Franke)
Herbert W. Franke, 1927 in Wien geboren, studierte Physik, Mathematik, Chemie, Psychologie und Philosophie. Er promovierte an der Universität Wien mit einem Thema aus der theoretischen Physik zum Doktor der Philosophie. Seit 1957 ist er freier Schriftsteller. 1980 wurde Franke zum Mitglied des Deutschen PEN-Clubs gewählt. Im selben Jahr wurde ihm der Berufstitel Professor verliehen. Er ist Mitglied der Grazer Autorenversammlung und erhielt zahlreiche Preise, darunter mehrere für jahresbeste Science-Fiction-Romane. Frankes faszinierende Utopien basieren auf den Erkenntnissen seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit. Neben Autoren wie Philip K. Dick oder Stanislaw Lem ist Franke einer der bekanntesten Science-Fiction-Autoren Europas.Notes:
