The Catalogue includes more than 4000 works by the artist, presented chronologically and divided into typological series. The works were catalogued on the basis of the photography collection of the Archivio Piero Dorazio, of the research conducted by the Technical Committee for the Archiving of the Works of Piero Dorazio and of the examination of printed materials related to the artist's exhibitions during his lifetime. The three-volume catalogue, presented in a single box, includes critical essays, biographical and bibliographical material and essential information on each work. The first volume covers Dorazio's work from 1945 to 1963, the second from 1964 to 1979, and the third from 1980 to 2005. The Catalogue features an essay by Francesco Tedeschi, which contextualizes Dorazio within an elaborate network of artistic relations, criticism and activism in Italy and abroad, and another by David Anfam (respected international expert on Abstract Expressionism, curator of the catalogue raisonné on Mark Rothko and director of the Clyfford Still Museum Research Center in Denver), focusing on the specific nature of Dorazio's abstract art as it developed in the 50s through his contact with the American art world. Luca Pietro Nicoletti, editor of the catalogue and professor at the University of Udine, contributes an essay on the artist's critical reception while Valentina Sonzogni, director of the Archivio Piero Dorazio, writes about the Archive's collections. In addition to works presented in black and white photos, there are approximately 220 colour plates and an anthological selection of writings on Piero Dorazio.
