David Quammen, geboren 1948 in Cincinnati/Ohio, ist Schriftsteller und Wissenschaftsjournalist. Für seine populärwissenschaftlichen Werke zu Naturgeschichte und Evolution wurde er mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Quammen bereist die entlegensten Gegenden der Welt und berichtet für zahlreiche Magazine, darunter National Geographic und Harper's Bazaar. Er lebt in Montana/USA.
