Biography
Der Kanadier David Gibbins, Jahrgang 1962, studierte Archäologie an der University of Cambridge, bevor er 1999 an der University of Texas den Lehrstuhl für Nautische Archäologie übernahm. Dort spezialisierte Gibbins sich auf "Maritime Archäologie" und leitete mehrere Expeditionen im Mittelmeergebiet, insbesondere vor den Küsten Siziliens, Tunesiens und vor der türkischen Schwarzmeerküste. Nach zahlreichen wissenschaftlichen Publikationen, die ihm hohes Ansehen in Fachkreisen verschafften, erfüllte sich David Gibbins mit seiner Romanserie um den Gentleman-Abenteurer und Wissenschaftler Jack Howard einen persönlichen Traum, der ihn schnell an die Spitze der internationalen Bestsellerlisten führte.
