Biography
Carl Barks wurde am 27. März 1901 in Merrill, Oregon geboren. 1935 begann er bei Disney eine Lehre als Trickfilmzeichner. 1942 zeichnete er zusammen mit Jack Hannah 'Donald Duck finds Pirate Gold', die erste lange Donald Duck-Geschichte. Barks wandte sich vom Trickfilm ab und wurde Comiczeichner. Bald hatte er seinen Spitznamen als 'Entenzeichner' weg. Seine psychologische Vertiefung der Donald Duckschen Charakterzüge setzte er um, indem er eigene Wesenszüge auf den Enterich übertrug. Sowohl in humoristischen Kurzgeschichten als auch in längeren Abenteuern, die in allen Ecken der Welt spielen. Barks schuf selbst weitere wichtige Figuren des Disney-Universums wie Onkel Dagobert, die Panzerknacker, Daisy Duck und Gustav Gans. Er zog sich 1967 vom Comiczeichnen zurück. Über ein Vierteljahrhundert lang hat Carl Barks den Alltag von Entenhausen und die Abenteuer seiner Bewohner beschrieben. Er starb fast 100jährig im August 2000.
