Qur'anic Inerrancy is the idea that the Qur'an has been given by an omnipotent and omniscient God and therefore has no errors whatsoever in its text, and that this text has been perfectly preserved since the time of its revelation. This concept is widely held throughout the Muslim community. Some Muslims describe the Qur'an as "immaculately preserved"1 and "the Word of All¿h, constant, immaculate, unalterable, inimitable".2 According to this theory, the contents of the Qur'an should be perfect and not contain a single error or mistake. This book will examine the background and topics associated with the theory of Qur'anic inerrancy, and after examining the evidence I will discuss whether this theory is logical. I will also analyze the effect errors in scripture may have on societal acceptance of the associated religion. I will also briefly discuss the role of reason in relation to errant holy texts and their respective religions.
