Biography

Miyamoto Musashi (1584-1645) wird in Japan noch heute als ein Kensei, ein Weiser des Schwertes verehrt. Er gehörte der kriegerischen Schicht der Samurai an und trachtete zeitlebens danach, seine eigene Kriegskunst auszubilden und zu vervollkommnen. 1643 zog er sich als Einsiedler in eine Höhle zurück, wo er seine Erfahrungen im "Buch der fünf Ringe", niederschrieb.
