Martin Gilbert, geboren 1936 in London, ist ein international renommierter britischer Historiker, der sich auf die Themen Judentum und Israel spezialisiert hat. Bekannt geworden ist er durch eine weltweit hoch gelobte Churchill-Biographie, als Autor von Beschreibungen des Ersten und Zweiten Weltkriegs sowie durch mehrere Bücher über den Holocaust. Er hat außerdem zwölf historische Atlanten veröffentlicht. Seine Bücher sind in viele Sprachen übersetzt worden. Martin Gilbert lebt in London.Biografie (Amanda Foreman)
