singer Mick Hucknall staked a firm claim on pop-
soul territory with Simply Red's debut album. The 1986
Number One "Holding Back the Years" established his
deft, understated way with a ballad. Picture Book's
other standout track is a cover of the Valentine
Brothers' funky protest "Money's Too Tight (to Mention)".
